Connecticut Fertility Association: Graphs

Connecticut Fertility Association’s main website and egg donation/surrogacy offshoot website are represented in graphs 5 and 6. White babies are the most represented group overall, on the main website, and on the egg donation/surrogacy website. Non-White dark skinned people are represented on the main website and on the egg donation/surrogacy website, in photographs of babies as well as families. This is significant in that it shows an obvious effort on CFA’s part to use diversity as a marketing tool for not only egg donation services but also fertility services in general.

CFA’s effort to put forth a racially diverse, but light skinned image, is further highlighted by the fact that the vast majority of the pictures used on both websites are in black and white. Therefore, even when non-White people are represented on the website, it is not done in an explicit way. Additionally, the only two pictures of donors on CFA’s website are very light skinned and racially ambiguous.
